Suspected of getting bribe in particularly large amount; division chief interrogated and gave testimony
Chief of Division 2 of Military Commission of the RA Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant colonel Sh. Avetisyan was arrested according to the Point 2 of the Part 4 of the Article 311 of RA Criminal Code - on suspicion of getting bribe in particularly large amount. Preliminary investigation of the criminal case is conducted in Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.
On June 1 a report was received from a citizen in Military Police of the RA Ministry of Defense informing that in early May, 2016 she went to military commission to speak about his son’s leave for military service where the chief of Division 2 of the same Military Commission demanded bribe of 12 thousand dollars to organize her son’s deferment for 3 years.
On the base of the report a criminal case was initiated according to the Point 2 of the Part 4 of the Article 311 of RA Criminal Code and necessary actions were conducted to verify the circumstances pointed out in the report. In the framework of operative-intelligence measures a part of the demanded money – previously developed 5.000 US dollars were given to the citizen on June 1 and the latter passed them to the division chief on the evening of the same day at the meeting that took place at the appointed place.
During the search conducted in Sh. Avetisyan’s car in the order defined by law 5.000 US dollars were found and confiscated. Sh. Avetisyan was arrested and interrogated.
According to preliminary investigation data, the young man who was to be drafted had health problems – flat-foot and nerve disorder.
Necessary investigatory actions are conducted to provide the comprehensive, objective and complete investigation of circumstances of the case.
