The international expert group is in Yerevan at the invitation of the Investigative Committee
On May 8, 2015 at the initiative of RA Investigative Committee a meeting was held in Yerevan with participation of members of EU international expert group TAIEX during which they represented the initial results of the expert mission.
Expressing gratitude for the implemented work the Chairman of RA Investigative Committee recorded that in recent months considerable steps have been taken for the formation of the committee, improvement of working and logistic conditions of investigators, as well as development of investigators’ professional skills noting, at the same time, that during the 7 months of the activity of the committee the problems, as well as the issues that preliminary investigation faces, have become more visible. The Chairman of the committee highlighted particularly the maintenance of reasonable deadlines of preliminary investigation, development of professional skills of investigators, application of criminological modern technical equipment, including trainings for conducting separate investigatory actions.
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee Aghvan Hovsepyan emphasized the requirements directed at the investigators, their behavior and mentioned that the behavior, values of each investigator, maintenance of legality are of great importance in the process of formation of public opinion about investigative body.
“Providing legality is a steady requirement directed at every employee. Each investigator must realize that he himself forms the public opinion about him and his colleagues through his behavior and work”, Aghvan Hovsepyan said and expressed hope that the conclusion of the experts will contribute to the implementation of capacities of the committee, as well as working projects meant to develop the professional skills of employees.
The international expert group arrived in Yerevan at the invitation of RA Investigative Committee and in the framework of expert mission from May 4 to May 8 got acquainted with the principles of the activity, requirements, regulations of legislative field, logistic and housing conditions of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
The experts had meetings in the central office, as well as territorial subdivisions, they got acquainted with technical equipment of the committee, needs, procedures of appointment and training of investigators, educational programs.
Based on the results of the visit the experts are expected to make and submit a report on the work implemented by the Investigative Committee as an independent state body, existing problems and development of capacities.
