9 criminal cases investigated in RA IC proceeding on attempt to vote more than once; 1 person involved as a defendant, 5 as a suspect
In the result of necessary procedural actions conducted to verify the circumstances mentioned in press publications, reports on electoral breaches received in Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee two criminal cases were initiated on attempt to vote more than once.
1. A report was received in Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee informing that a voter attempted to vote more than once in polling station N 23/02. In the result of measures taken it was found that on the morning of April 2 the voter of polling station N 23/02 A. Hovhannisyan took part in National Assembly elections in the order defined by law but after a while he went to the same polling station and attempted to register again to vote. The signal of identification device went on; as a result the commission prevented the attempt of voting more than once.
Considering that the prepared materials contain reason and base to initiate a criminal case according to the Article 34-153 of RA Criminal Code, a criminal case was initiated in Lori Regional Investigative Department according to the Article 34-153 of RA Criminal Code.
2. A report on attempt to vote more than once in polling station N 25/20 was received in Lori Regional Investigative Department. In the result of measures taken it was found that the proxy registered in polling station N 25/20 B. Barseghyan as a voter took part in NA elections in the mentioned polling station in the order defined by law. However, after a while at about 20:00 he attempted to register again to vote.
Considering that the prepared materials contain reason and base to initiate a criminal case according to the Article 34-153 of RA Criminal Code, a criminal case was initiated in Lori Regional Investigative Department according to the Article 34-153 of RA Criminal Code.
Thus, as of April 5, 9 criminal cases are investigated in territorial subdivisions of the RA Investigative Committee on attempt of voting instead of another person 6 of which in regions (1 in Syuniq, 1 in Vayots Dzor, 1 in Armavir, 1 in Shirak, 2 in Lori), 3 in Yerevan. One person was involved as a defendant, 5 as a suspect.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
