Public Criminal Prosecution Initiated against two Persons for Compelling to Campaign in Elections of Self-Government Bodies to be Held in Berd Community

Within the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated in the Investigative Department of the RA National Security Service, investigated in Tavush Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee a number of circumstances of compelling to campaign in the elections of self-government bodies to be held in Berd community on September 25, 2022 committed by the secretary of Berd community staff of RA Tavush region and the administrative head of Nerkin Karmiraghbyur settlement of the same community were found out.

Through investigation it was found out that on September 25, 2022 the above-mentioned people supporting the alliance “Strong Community” at the elections of self-government bodies to be held in Berd community, using their power and influence conditioned by it, threatening to terminate the employment contract between the head of Berd community and the acting director of “Kindergarten of Nerkin Karmiraghbyur” CNCO, in August, 2022 compelled the latter to be involved in the mentioned community and to campaign for the same alliance thus forcing to refuse to campaign for the party of her choice.

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence a public criminal prosecution was initiated against the secretary of Berd community staff of RA Tavush region and the administrative head of Nerkin Karmiraghbyur settlement according to the Point 3 and 5 of the Part 2 of the Article 211 of RA Criminal Code.

During preliminary investigation a decision on the defendants’ arrest was made the implementation of which was assigned to the relevant officers of Tavush Regional Department of the RA Police.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
