A criminal case initiated on death of 39 year-old woman in a medical center
A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee on death of 39 year-old woman in the medical center.
On September 1, 2015 Karine Aghabekyan’s sister-in-law submitted a report informing that on the same day at about 10:40 K. Aghabekyan died in “Erebuni” medical center in the result of wrong diagnosis and surgery made by the doctors of “Scientific-Research Center for Protection of the Health of Mothers and Children”.
A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts according to the Part 2 of the Article 130 of RA Criminal Code (Failure to implement or improper implementation of professional duties by medical and support personnel which through negligence caused the patient’s death).
During preliminary investigation it was found that on August 19, 2015 K. Aghabekyan’s uterus was removed in “Scientific-Research Center for Protection of the Health of Mothers and Children” after which, on the same day, she was taken to “Erebuni” medical center where she died on September 1, 2015.
Forensic medical examination of the body was appointed.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary investigatory and procedural measures are taken to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of the case.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
