Charge pressed against Chief of Gegharquniq’s garrison hospital of RA Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant Colonel of medical service

In the framework of the criminal case investigated in General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee charge was pressed against Chief of Gegharquniq’s garrison hospital of RA Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant Colonel of medical service Ye. Hovhannisyan for improper implementation of professional duties which caused the patient’s death.
 

On September 5, 2015 at 23:15, immediately after car crash serviceman S. Gasparyan with a diagnosis of “Close craniocerebral trauma, right side pneumothorax of the right ear, traumatic shock, in serious condition” was taken to military garrison hospital of Vardenis and underwent clinical instrumental examination.
 

In the result of investigatory actions conducted during preliminary investigation, forensic medical examinations sufficient data were obtained on the allegation that the combination of anamnesis’ data obtained in the result of examinations conducted in hospital and the patient’s objective condition contained sufficient instructions to operation but under the mentioned circumstances Ye. Hovhannisyan did not assess S. Gasparyan’s objective condition correctly, did not implement the necessary medical-diagnostic measures properly and did not organize surgery on time which could prevent the grave consequences of shock. Next day the injured was taken to the Central Garrison Military Hospital of the RA Ministry of Defense where he underwent operation however traumatic, hemorrhagic deepening shock not prevented on time caused developing multi organ insufficiency because of which S. Gasparyan died on September 11, 2015.
 

On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against Ye. Hovhannisyan according to the Part 2 of the Article 130 of RA Criminal Code (Failure to implement or improper implementation of professional duties by medical and support personnel which through negligence caused the patient’s death).
 

Preliminary investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
