Charged with murder of two servicemen
A criminal case was initiated in the Fifth Garrison Investigative Unit of General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on murder of two servicemen. In the result of urgent investigatory actions conducted in the framework of the criminal case circumstances of murder were found, the person having committed the apparent crime was identified.
On April 6, 2016 servicemen Grigor Avetisyan and Suren Aramyan with fatal firearm injuries were found in firing positions of the unit N.
A criminal case was initiated in the Fifth Garrison Investigative Unit of General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Points 1 and 6 of the Part 2 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code.
Through preliminary investigation of the criminal case it was found that on the day preceding the incident there was a quarrel in which the mentioned servicemen were involved during which there were scolds.
According to preliminary investigation data, on April 6, 2016 at about 02:30 another serviceman of the same unit with a gun attached to him first fired shots towards G. Avetisyan then towards S. Aramyan in order to revenge. G. Avetisyan sustained firearm bodily injury on his chest and S. Aramyan – on his abdomen. They both died of injuries.
On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against the serviceman according to the Points 1 and 6 of the Part 2 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code (murder of two or more persons in a way dangerous for many people’s life). The investigator submitted a motion to the court to use detention as a pretrial measure against him. The motion was sufficed.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
