In the result of investigatory actions conducted in the framework of the criminal case investigated in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee circumstances of inflicting heavy bodily damages to Garegin Satumyan in the center of Yerevan on January 21 were found, the person having committed the apparent crime was identified.

G. Satumyan was inflicted bodily damages dangerous for life at the catering facility “At Artash’s” during the row erupted on domestic affairs.

In the result of investigatory actions conducted in the framework of investigation evidence were obtained on the allegation that G. Satumyan had been stabbed for numerous times by A. Vardanyan, who, according to investigation data, went on striking the injured on his head after he had fallen to the ground. Noticing other men, who were approaching to help, A. Vardanyan escaped.

On the base of the obtained evidence on January 22 the investigator made a decision to involve A. Vardanyan as a defendant according to the Point 10 of the Part 2 of the Article 34-104 of RA Criminal Code (murder attempt out of hooliganism).

On the same day the investigator submitted a motion to the court to use detention as a pretrial measure against A. Vardanyan. Search was declared against him.

The relevant subdivisions of the police were tasked to take necessary operative-intelligence measures to find and bring him to the investigative body.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
