Criminal Proceeding Initiated on Death of Serviceman as a result of Shot Fired by Rival on August 21
On August 21, 2023 at about 15:30 a serviceman of the armed forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, out of motives of national, race, ethnic hate, intolerance and hostility, with the intent to illegally deprive of life, fired a shot towards the combat position of the unit N of the RA Ministry of Defense. As a result, the serviceman of the same unit, involved in combat duty, Vanik Aram Ghazaryan received fatal firearm injury on the head.
With regard to the case a criminal proceeding was initiated in the Fifth Garrison Investigative Unit of General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Points 1 and 15 of the Part 2 of the Article 155 of RA Criminal Code.
A number of expertises were commissioned, urgent investigative and procedural actions are conducted.
