On October 2, 2023 at about 14:25 out of racial, national, ethnic hatred, intolerance or hostility, with the intent to illegally deprive of life, the rival fired sniper shots towards the vehicle of “KAMAZ 43114” make providing rear support in the combat position in the south-eastern border zone under the protection of the unit N of the RA Ministry of Defense. As a result of the shots the serviceman of the same unit Aram Tigran Kocharyan received fatal firearm injury and two servicemen received firearm injuries and were taken to hospital. The vehicle of “KAMAZ 43114” make was also damaged as a result of the shots.

With regard to the case a criminal proceeding was initiated in the Fifth Garrison Investigative Unit of General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Points 1 and 15 of the Part 2 of the Article 155, the Points 1 and 15 of the Part 2 of the Article 44-155 (two counts) and the Points 2, 3 and 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 264 of RA Criminal Code.

Later another report was received informing that the rival fired shots also towards the ambulance vehicle of “UAZ” make, being in the balance of the mentioned unit of the RA Ministry of Defense, which was driving up to the combat position to evacuate and show the victims medical aid. As a result, the back and lateral glasses of the vehicle were damaged however the persons in the vehicle were not injured.

With regard to the mentioned case a criminal proceeding was initiated, as well, according to the Points 1, 7 and 15 of the Part 2 of the Article 44-155, as well as the Points 2, 3 and 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 264 of RA Criminal Code.

Based on the need to conduct an effective investigation, the mentioned two proceedings were combined. Preliminary investigation is conducted to find out the circumstances of the case, to give final legal assessments to the rival’s actions
