Criminal Proceedings Initiated on Murder and Murder Attempt against Servicemen of RA Armed Forces as a Result of Criminal Acts Committed by Azerbaijani Armed Forces at Tegh Settlement
On April 11, 2023 reports were received from the unit N of the RA Ministry of Defense informing that on the same day at about 15:40 in the combat positions adjacent to the village of Tegh of the RA Syunik region the servicemen of the military unit Artur Avetis Sahakyan, Mkrtich Armen Harutyunyan, Narek Gagik Sargsyan and Henrik Vachagan Kocharyan received fatal firearm injuries. 6 more persons received bodily injuries of various gravities and were taken to medical institutions.
On the base of the reports criminal proceedings were initiated in the Ninth Garrison Investigative Unit of General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Points 1 and 15 of the Part 2 of the Article 155 as well as according to the Points 1 and 15 of the Part 2 of the Article 44-155 of RA Criminal Code which were combined in one proceeding. An investigative group was created.
Pursuant to initial data obtained during preliminary investigation, the servicemen of the armed forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, under the pretext of adjusting the location points, approached by car the servicemen of the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia carrying out engineering work on the border after which out of motives of race, national or ethnic hate, intolerance, hostility fired shots from firearms towards the RA servicemen. Then the armed forces of Azerbaijan fired shots towards the servicemen and combat positions of the RA armed forces from other weapons, as well.
In the result of the mentioned criminal acts of the servicemen of Azerbaijani armed forces 4 servicemen of the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia were killed, 6 servicemen received bodily injuries of various gravities.
Within the framework of the proceeding inspection of the scene was conducted, relevant expertises were commissioned.
All the necessary procedural and evidentiary actions are conducted to find out all circumstances of the case, to give a legal assessment of full value to the criminal acts of the servicemen of Azerbaijan’s armed forces.
