Information about Cases of Apparent Hindrance to Implementation of Right to Elect until Voting Day of Snap Elections of National Assembly
Until the voting day of the snap elections of the National Assembly to be held on 20 July, 2021 18 materials and 4 criminal cases on cases of apparent hindrance to implementation of the right to elect were received in territorial subdivisions of the RA Investigative Committee.
4 of the mentioned 22 cases refer to hindrance to free implementation of the citizen’s right to elect envisaged by the Article 149 of RA Criminal Code, 9 – to hindrance to participation in pre-election campaign envisaged by the Article 149.1 of RA Criminal Code, 5 – to forcing to participate in pre-election campaign envisaged by the Article 149.1 of RA Criminal Code, 1 – to giving and receiving electoral bribe envisaged by the Article 154.2 of RA Criminal Code, 2 – to breach of ban of charity envisaged by the Article 154.2 of RA Criminal Code and 1 – to hindrance to the legal professional activities of a journalist envisaged by the Article 164 of RA Criminal Code.
Criminal cases were initiated on 3 cases of hindrance to participation in pre-election campaign, 1 case of forcing to participate in pre-election campaign, 1 case on hindrance to the legal professional activities of a journalist as well as 1 case of giving electoral bribe. One of the cases was sent to the RA Special Investigatory Service, according to investigative subordination, preliminary investigation of 5 criminal cases is ongoing.
One person was detained within the criminal case initiated on one of the cases of hindrance to participation in pre-electoral campaign.
