Manuk Simonyan’s wife and son arrested on suspicion of his murder

In the result of necessary investigatory and operative-intelligence joint actions conducted in the framework of the criminal case investigated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee the wife and son of the Armavir region Governor's advisor Manuk Simonyan were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the latter's murder.

On July 23, 2017 a call was received in the police from the resident of Armavir region informing that on July 22, 2017 from 22:00 to 23:00 her husband Manuik Simonyan left home and did not return. The wife told that a man had called her husband from the yard after which he left the house without telling where he was going and did not return.

On July 25, 2017 at about 23:30 the body of Manuk Simonyan, born in 1965, was found wrapped and tied at the area called «Dalarik's canyon».

In the result of investigatory and operative-searching joint actions of great volume conducted in the framework of the criminal case a number of circumstances significant for the case – motive, the frame of those involved in the alleged crime were found.

Through preliminary investigation data were obtained on the allegation that the wife had been subjected to violence by her husband. On the morning of July 22, 2017 a row erupted again between the wife and husband after which the husband slept and the wife hit her sleeping husband with an axe. The latter died of the bodily injuries he had sustained. Then the wife rang her son and called him home, took the husband’s body and hid in the canyon near the village of Dalarik of Armavir region.

On the base of the obtained evidence Manuk Simonyan’s wife and son have been arrested.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing, measures are taken to provide the complete, objective and comprehensive investigation of circumstances of the case.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
