RA IC Investigators Developed Capacities in Criminal Legal Fight against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (photos)

Certificates of participation in HELP online training related to violence against women and domestic violence, organized within the framework of the program «Overcoming Violence against Women and Strengthening Gender Equality in Armenia» held by Yerevan Office of the Council of Europe, were handed over to a group of investigators of the RA Investigative Committee.

The training attended by a group of investigators of the territorial subdivisions of the RA Investigative Committee conducting preliminary investigation within cases on violence against women and domestic violence, was aimed at strengthening the capacities of participants within the framework of the Council of Europe Convention «On Prevention of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence and Fight against them», development of cooperation in the sphere of prevention of violence against women and domestic violence and fight against them.

Within the framework of the training the participants developed skills on how to respond quickly and effectively to cases of violence against women and domestic violence, and how to interrogate victims and alleged perpetrators.

The certificates were handed over to the victims by Arsen Ayvazyan, Deputy Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee and Liana Amirbekyan, project manager of «Overcoming Violence against Women and Strengthening Gender Equality in Armenia» of Yerevan Office of the Council of Europe.

Arsen Ayvazyan attached importance to the implementation of similar programs in terms of the development of professional abilities of investigators and emphasized that as a result of effective work of criminal prosecution bodies in the fight against domestic violence, as well as the improvement of sectoral legislation, the number of persons affected by such violence turning to law enforcement bodies, that is, relying on the protection of the state, has increased.

Mrs. Amirbekyan expressed satisfaction on the cooperation with the RA Investigative Committee within the program and expressed hope that the knowledge given to the investigators in the framework of online training will contribute to the enhancement of effectiveness of investigation within criminal proceedings related to violence against women and domestic violence. Both sides emphasized the need to continue such trainings.
