Search Declared against Former Head of Community of Tatev

Through comprehensive investigation conducted in Syunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee a number of circumstances of abuses allegedly committed by the former head of Tatev community of Syunik Marz were found out.

Pursuant to data obtained through investigation, 62 year-old resident of Syunik, holding the position of the head of the above-mentioned community from 2016 to 2021, using his official position against service interests, without signing relevant contracts gave the excavator of “JCB” make to an LLC for 20 days in 2018, 40 days in 2019, 45 days in 2020 for 8 hours a day for 15.000 – 20.000 AMD per hour. He did not enter the money - 14.400.000 AMD in total received from the representative of the company to the community budget causing grave consequences for the community. Moreover, he swindled 6400 l diesel fuel of 2.560.000 AMD given for the equipment exploitation in the mentioned period.

Besides, in summer, 2020 the former head of Tatev community exploited the above-mentioned equipment for 40 hours during construction of the barn owned by him. For this purpose 320 l diesel fuel was withdrawn and spent from the community and 400.000 AMD defined by the decision of the Council of Elders for the excavator exploitation was not paid to the community budget causing significant damage to legal interests of the community.

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence, on 6 August, 2021 a decision was made to involve the former head of Tatev community as a defendant according to the Points 1 and 3 of the Part 2 of the Article 179, the Part 1 of the Article 308 and the Part 2 of the Article 308 of RA Criminal Code, Search was declared and detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.

Necessary measures are taken to find and bring him to the investigative body.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
