Investigation is conducted in Charentsavan Investigative Division of Kotayk Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee to find out circumstances of fire broken out in one of the apartments of the 2d district of Charentsavan and 89 year-old woman’s murder.

It should be added that on December 2, 2021 at 05:30 immediately after the call on the incident received from a citizen the group formed of investigators of Kotayk Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee headed by the head of the department left for the scene.

After the firefighters had extinguished the fire the body of 89 year-old resident of the mentioned apartment was found burnt and smoked.

Inspection of the scene and external inspection of the body were conducted during which traces of violence were found on the old woman’s body.

It was found out that at the moment of fire besides 89 year-old woman her 36 year-old granddaughter and the latter’s 5 year-old daughter were also in the apartment. They were taken to medical center.

Considering that in the materials prepared on the case there was a legal base to initiate a criminal case, in Charentsavan Investigative Division of Kotayk Regional Investigative Department a criminal case was initiated according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code. On the same day the old woman’s 36 year-old granddaughter was arrested on suspicion of murdering her.

Forensic medical examination of the body, forensic medical and forensic fire examinations were commissioned to find out circumstances significant for the case.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
