Investigative and procedural actions are conducted in Kotayk Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee to find out circumstances of theft, interfering in legal service activity of the police officers and neutralizing the person having allegedly committed theft with a shot fired by a patrol committed in Hrazdan town.

On March 13, 2023 at 00:44 a call was received from the resident of Hrazdan town informing that unknown persons had entered her house.

Pursuant to the received report, the police officers who had left for the scene on the base of the call, learning from the citizen that there was a person in the barn next to the latter’s house, introducing themselves demanded that the latter should get out. A man with his face covered with a bag and an axe in his hand came out of the barn. The latter demanded that they should let him go then making erratic movements with an axe attacked the police officers trying to damage one of them. The police officers demanded that he should put the axe down informing that otherwise they would use a weapon. However the man went on with the erratic movements with the axe trying to damage one of the patrols. The latter fired two warning shots to the air with a pistol of “GLOCK” model fixed to him during which the mentioned man again tried to hit the patrol with the axe and the latter fired a shot towards the man with the mentioned pistol causing bodily damage on the chest.

After showing the first aid the above-mentioned man was immediately taken to Hrazdan medical center by the ambulance group where he died.

In the result of operative-intelligence measures the man was identified; he is also a resident of Hrazdan town, born in 1977.

A criminal proceeding was initiated in Kotayk Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Point 3 of the Part 2 of the Article 44-254 and the Part 1 of the Article 452 of RA Criminal Code. One more criminal proceeding was initiated according to the Part 1 of the Article 155 of RA Criminal Code.

Inspection of the scene was conducted, a number of persons were questioned. Forensic medical expertise was commissioned. The patrol’s pistol was confiscated.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary measures are taken to find out all circumstances of the case.
