Within the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated in Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee measures are taken to fully find out the circumstances of murder attempt apparently committed against police officers by two persons in Lori province, intervention in their legal service activity with violence, stealing the service weapon threatening to use violence, spoilage of property, illegal turnover of narcotic drugs.

Through investigation data were obtained that on January 18, 2023 the employees of Lori Regional Department of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs received operative data on the allegation that the residents of Vanadzor town – 24 and 22 year-old brothers sold narcotic drugs at the area called “Darpasi chal” in the same town.

In order to verify the operative data the police officers left for the above-mentioned place in the car of “VAZ-2107” make where noticing the brothers in the car of “Opel” make, approached them, introduced themselves and told them to go with them to the police division. The brothers not obeying the legal requirements of the police officers, pulled them, hit them with hands meanwhile one of the brothers stole the police officer’s pistol of “Makarov” make.

After it 24 year-old man, with the intent to illegally deprive of life, fired shots towards the police officers, however they managed to escape after which the young man broke the glasses of the car of “VAZ-2107” make with the pistol butt.

During that time other police officers arrived at the scene. They tried to get 22 year-old young man into their service car but the other brother, driving the mentioned car of “Opel” make towards them, crashed their service car and required to let his brother free after which they escaped.

In the result of taken measures the brothers were arrested and brought to the investigative body.

Two police officers were found the victim.

Inspection of the scene was conducted during which capsules, a bullet, a pneumatic gun, blood-like traces, parcels with substance similar to narcotic drug were found, samples were taken.

Forensic medical, forensic biological, forensic chemical complex expertise as well as forensic ballistic, forensic chemical, forensic trace expertise was commissioned. The inquest body was assigned to take operative-intelligence measures.

On the base of the obtained evidence a public criminal prosecution was initiated against two brothers by the prosecutor and by the decision of the investigative body charge was pressed against 22 year-old young man according to the Point 1 of the Part 2 of the Article 46-44-155 and the Point 2 of the Part 4 of the Article 452 of RA Criminal Code, charge was pressed against his 24 year-old brother according to the Point 1 of the Part 2 of the Article 44-155 (two counts), the Point 1 of the Part 2 of the Article 338 and the Part 3 of the Article 452 of RA Criminal Code.

A motion was submitted by the investigator to the court of first instance of Lori province to choose detention as a pretrial measure against them.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
