97.3% of Criminal Cases Initiated on Murders, Murder Attempts, Murder Preparations and Missing Recorded in 2020 Disclosed

The Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Hayk Grigoryan held working consultation with participation of the leadership of the RA Investigative Committee and the heads of structural subdivisions.

Pursuant to agenda, the work on criminal cases initiated on murders and murder attempts committed in 2019, murders, murder attempts, murder preparations and missing committed from January 1 to May 24, 2020 was reported.

Pursuant to examination of the state of preliminary investigation of criminal cases initiated on murders and murder attempts committed in 2019 conducted in General Department on Special Assignments, Organizational-analytical Activity and Criminalistics 134 criminal cases on murder and murder attempt were investigated in the proceeding of the RA Investigative Committee (including General Military Investigative Department). 39 criminal cases on 49 persons were sent to court, proceeding of 12 criminal cases was terminated, 22 – suspended, preliminary investigation of 61 criminal cases is ongoing. 32 of the mentioned criminal cases were the ones passed from 2018 to 2019.

72 criminal cases on murder and murder attempt committed in 2019 were initiated in territorial subdivisions of the RA Investigative Committee (excluding General Military Investigative Department) 24 of which were initiated in the investigative divisions of Yerevan Investigative Department, 48 – in regional investigative departments.

Pursuant to examination conducted in General Department of Control over Activity of Territorial Investigative Departments of the RA Investigative Committee from January 1 to May 24, 2020 45 criminal cases on murders, murder attempts, murder preparations and missing were initiated and received in the proceeding in the investigative bodies of the RA Investigative Committee (excluding criminal cases investigated in the proceeding of General Military Investigative Department) 4 of which – in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases, 10 – in the proceeding of Yerevan Investigative Department and its subdivisions and 31 criminal cases – in regional investigative departments.

8 of the mentioned 45 criminal cases were initiated on cases out of national, racial or religious motives by unknown individuals from enemy military bases and in the result of investigatory and other procedural actions of great volume conducted within 37 criminal cases 36 or 97,3 % of them were disclosed.

Summing up the consultation Hayk Grigoryan gave certain instructions emphasizing the working directions requiring maximum attention.
