A criminal case was initiated in Ararat Regional Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee on poisoning of schoolchildren.

On September 10, 2015 at 12:15 a report was received informing that schoolchildren of 4^th -7^th grades in the secondary school of Baghramyan village were poisoned. On the same day at 12:20 a call was received from the hospital of Artashat informing that 40 schoolchildren from the secondary school of Baghramyan village, 8 schoolchildren from the secondary school of Aygezard village, in total 48 schoolchildren with “food poisoning” were taken to hospital.

During preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated in Ararat Regional Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee inspections were conducted in secondary schools of Baghramyan and Aygezard villages with participation of the employees of State Food Security Service and Quality Control Inspectorate, as well as the employees of “National Center for Disease Control and Prevention” SNCO.

Through investigation it was found that Private Entrepreneur manufacturing bakery located in the village of Baghramyan of the region of Ararat had signed contracts with schools of Baghramyan, Aygezard and some other villages in order to supply them with bakery and on the morning of each working day he supplied the schools with bakery.

It was also found that on September 10, 2015 at about 9:00 the supplier of the mentioned PE supplied the above-mentioned schools with bakery which was sold to schoolchildren during the break. Through investigation it was found that the schoolchildren who had bought hot-dogs and potato pies, complained of nausea and weakness.

Through inspection of the scene samples of bakery were taken and given to Food Security Service.  Appropriate ointments were taken from those related to cooking and selling the bakery to conduct appropriate expertise.

A criminal case was initiated in Ararat Regional Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee according to the Points 1 and 2 of the Part 2 of the Article 279 of RA Criminal Code.

Preliminary investigation is under way.

Measures are taken to provide the comprehensive, objective and complete investigation of the case, as well as to find the source and causes of poisoning.
