In the result of investigative and procedural actions conducted, as well as relevant measures taken by the employees of the RA NSS within the framework of the criminal proceeding investigated in Syunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 393 and the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 399 of RA Criminal Code, another case of illegal turnover of narcotic drugs in particularly large amount smuggled from IRI to the RA was disclosed.

Pursuant to data obtained through investigation, on November 11 at about 05:00, 52 and 32 year-old residents of Yerevan leaving for Meghri in Syunik region in the car of “Mitsubishi Grandis” make, took packages of narcotic drugs in particularly large amount smuggled from IRI to the RA at Meghri-Agarak sector of Armenian-Iranian state border and put them in the mentioned car.  

Then at about 07:30 on the way to Yerevan, on Kapan-Yerevan interstate highway, the car was stopped by the NSS officers who were at the mentioned place to realize the received operative data. It was found out that there were 2 bundles combined with an adhesive tape, consisting of numerous packages in the car.

A decision was made by the investigator to arrest the mentioned persons who had been brought to the investigative body on the base of reasonable suspicion of committing a crime.

Through search conducted in the car a mass with total weight of 10kg 294g was found in the mentioned bundles which, according to the result of the expertise, is a narcotic drug of “Marijuana” type.

In the result of the taken measures the IRI citizen, who had transferred the mentioned narcotic drugs to the Armenian territory over the Armenian-Iranian border for the mentioned persons, was identified.

On the base of the obtained sufficient facts a motion was submitted to the prosecutor by the investigator to initiate a public criminal prosecution against the mentioned residents of Yerevan. It was sufficed and charge was pressed against them according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 46-399 and the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 393 of RA Criminal Code.

Detention was applied as a pretrial measure against the mentioned men.
