Foreigner Charged with Illegal Turnover of Narcotic Drugs Detained (photos)
On October 20, 2024 at about 08:00 the patrolmen of the city of Yerevan of the Police of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, while carrying out their duties in Shengavit Street of Shengavit administrative district, next to Yerevanyan Lake, noticed two young men with suspicious behavior. The latters were taken to Shengavit Police Station on reasonable suspicion of illegal procurement, keeping, using and selling of narcotic drugs.
It was found out that the mentioned persons were citizens of the Republic of Cuba. Through personal search of one of them a folding knife was found, and 34 packages of white crystalline mass with a weight of 46.44 grams packed with adhesive tapes of various colors were found at the other, in connection with which the latter stated that it was narcotic drug of "Crystal" type.
A criminal proceeding was initiated in the Investigative Division of Shengavit administrative district of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 1 of the Article 334, the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 393 of RA Criminal Code.
Within the framework of the criminal proceeding forensic chemical expertise was commissioned to find out the exact weight and content of the mass found, and criminological expertise was commissioned on the part of the weapon, the implementation of which was assigned to the experts of “Expert Criminalistics Center of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia” SNCO.
Through expertise of the whitish powder-like mass taken from individual packages it was revealed that it is narcotic drug of “a-PVP” type.
Pursuant to factual data obtained through investigation, one of the mentioned persons had procured the narcotic drug through telegram from an unknown person for which he had paid via payment terminal.
A decision was made to initiate a public criminal prosecution against the mentioned person according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 393 of RA Criminal Code and charge was pressed against him.
A motion was submitted to court to select detention as a pretrial measure against him which was sufficed.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are taken to find out the source of procurement of narcotic drugs, as well as to reveal other possible cases of selling.
