Case of Smuggling, Illegal Turnover of over 43kg Narcotic Drugs of Various Types Disclosed; Preliminary Investigation on One Person Completed (photos)
In the result of coordinated actions conducted by the employees of the Department of Investigation of Crimes on Human Trafficking, against Sexual Immunity of Juveniles and Illegal Turnover of Drugs of General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases, Syunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee and National Security Service a case of illegal turnover of 43.724 g various types of narcotic drugs was disclosed, two of the members of the criminal group were identified.
In January, 2023 operative information was received on smuggling narcotic drugs to the Republic of Armenia by an IRI citizen.
While realizing the received information it was found out that the IRI citizen, with the intent to engage in illegal turnover of narcotic drugs at the RA territory, reached prior agreement with 27 year-old citizen of the Republic of Georgia and others not identified yet.
In order to realize his criminal intention, on April 15, 2024 the latter ensured the process of illegal transportation of narcotic drugs of «Marijuana» type in particularly large amount - 28.003,47 grams, 14.434,75 grams of «Heroine» and 1287,06 grams of «Methamphetamine», in total, to the RA territory and transporting them to another place from Syunik region, placing them in various hiding places.
Then the photos of the location of narcotic drugs were sent to 27 year-old citizen of Georgia, involved in the group, who on April 15, 2024 at about 23:30 drove in the car of «VAZ 2107» make, owned by him, to the hiding place of narcotic drugs – the territory of Kharberd community of Ararat region, found the mentioned bags of drugs and with the intent to sell them, attempted to put them in the car driven by him. However, he was arrested by the employees of the RA National Security Service.
On the base of the obtained sufficient facts charge was pressed against 27 year-old man according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 393 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was selected as a pretrial measure against him.
The part on him was separated in a separate proceeding, preliminary investigation was completed and the materials of the proceeding, with the bill of indictment, were sent to court.
Preliminary investigation on others involved in the criminal group is ongoing. Measures are taken to identify and find them.
