On 2 July, 2021 at about 01:00 a call was received in Nairi Police Division from a woman informing that she had committed murder at the place called “Monuments” in Yeghvard.

The investigative-operative group immediately left for the scene and found the body of 61 year-old man strangled in the car of “Opel Astra” make.

Pursuant to initial data, an argument broke out in the mentioned car during which the person having committed the alleged crime strangled the man with a towel.

A criminal case was initiated in Nairi Investigative Division of Kotayk Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code.

In the result of urgent investigative and other procedural actions as well as operative-intelligence measures a number of circumstances of the case, the motive were found out, the person having committed the alleged crime was identified; she is 31 year-old resident of Kapan. Inspection of the scene was conducted during which a towel and woman’s hair were found. Forensic medical examination of the body was commissioned.

31 year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murdering the man, was questioned and gave self-incriminating testimony.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are taken to provide the objective and comprehensive investigation of the case, to verify the circumstances mentioned in the testimonies.
