Cardiologist of “Urban endocrine dispensary” detained
In the framework of the criminal case investigated in the Investigative Division of Malatia-Sebastia administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee charge was pressed against the cardiologist of “Urban endocrine dispensary”. Detainment was chosen as a pretrial measure against her.
In April, 2014 a criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Malatia on procurement and keeping drugs or psychotropic materials by a citizen according to the Part 1 of the Article 268 of RA Criminal Code. Two boxes of pills with a note “Diazepam” were found on him.
In the result of the measures taken during preliminary investigation it was found that the citizen had procured the mentioned psychotropic remedy from a pharmacy through a prescription prescribed by the cardiologist of “Urban endocrine dispensary” in the name of another person.
Based on the materials of the criminal case in January, 2015 a new criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Malatia-Sebastia administrative district of the Investigative Committee on prescribing illegal prescriptions or other documents allowing to receive drugs or psychotropic materials by the doctor out of mercenary or other personal motives.
During preliminary investigation it was found that the doctor, who was a cardiologist in “Urban endocrine dispensary” and was authorized to prescribe psychotropic materials, had prescribed prescriptions for 48 pills of psychotropic remedy in the name of a woman but gave only a few pills to her.
Through investigation it was found that the doctor had illegally sold some of the pills to another citizen who was identified through the investigation, the rest of it was kept by her.
On May 15 the doctor’s apartment was searched in the order defined by law during which pills considered psychotropic remedy were found in her bedroom. Forensic material and scientific examination was appointed.
On May 15, 2015 she was arrested. Based on the evidence obtained through preliminary investigation on May 18 the doctor was charged according to three articles of RA Criminal Code. On the same day the investigator submitted a motion to the court to use detainment as a pretrial measure against the defendant. The motion was sufficed.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
