Doctor charged with illegally selling psychotropic materials; preliminary investigation completed

Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on procurement and keeping drugs or psychotropic materials by the doctor was completed in the Investigative Division of Malatia-Sebastia administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee.

By the data of preliminary investigation it was grounded that the cardiologist of “Urban endocrine dispensary” being authorized to prescribe psychotropic materials, had prescribed prescriptions for 48 pills of psychotropic remedy “Diazepam” in the name of a patient but gave only a few pills to her. The rest was sold to another person who was also identified through investigation.

During the search, conducted in the order defined by law, pills of psychotropic remedy “Lorazepam 2mg” were also found in the bedroom of the doctor’s flat.

On the base of the evidence obtained during pretrial proceeding charge was pressed against the doctor according to the Part 1 of the Article 266 (1 count), the Point 2 of the Part 2 of the Article 268 (2 counts) of RA Criminal Code. The person who had illegally procured psychotropic materials from the doctor was charged according to the Part 1 of the Article 268 of RA Criminal Code (1 count).

The criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to the prosecutor supervising the legality of preliminary investigation. The bill of indictment was confirmed and the criminal case was sent to court.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
