Charge Pressed against 5 People within Criminal Case on Mass Disorders in Erebuni

On the base of the evidence obtained in the result of necessary measures taken in the framework of the criminal case investigated in Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee charge was pressed against 5 people.

It was earlier informed that on April 22, 2018 a group of people, some of them with medical masks, assaulted the protesting citizens and used violence against them with stones, blackjacks, electric shock devices.

In the result of necessary investigatory and other procedural actions conducted in the RA IC Yerevan Investigative Department a number of circumstances were found out, actual data were obtained on 5 people having committed the alleged crime.

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence on June 1 charge was pressed against 5 people; charge was pressed against Mayor of Masis Davit Hambardzumyan according to the Parts 1 and 2 of the Article 225 of RA Criminal Code. Charge was pressed against Deputy Mayor Karen Ohanyan, residents of Masis town S. Sahakyan, born in 1982, G. Hambardzumyan, born in 1995 and G. Khachatryan, born in 1988, according to the Part 2 of the Article 225 of RA Criminal Code. A motion was submitted to court to choose detention as a pretrial measure against him.

One more person – a resident of Nor Aresh, a young man, born in 1995, was arrested on suspicion of being involved in disorders.

Thus, as of today, there are 5 defendants, 2 suspects within the criminal case.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are taken to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of circumstances of the case.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
