In the framework of the criminal case investigated in the Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee the person wanted for the attempt to kidnap a minor during protests surrendered himself to the investigative body.

It was earlier informed that on April 20, 2018 near the “Erebuni” museum a car of “Nissan Teana” make with German plate number drove to the minor who was taking part in the protest. Several young men got out of the car, presented themselves as police officers and forced him to get into the car. However, under the unforeseen circumstances they could not complete the crime.

In the result of investigatory and other procedural actions conducted within the criminal case initiated in the Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts one of those having committed the alleged crime was identified; he is A. Petrosyan, born in 1989.

On the base of the obtained evidence on May 21, 2018 the investigator made a decision to involve A. Petrosyan as a defendant according to the Points 1 and 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 34-131 of RA Criminal Code. Search was declared against him and a motion was submitted to court to use detention as a pretrial measure against him. The motion was sufficed. Within the criminal case the police were tasked to take measures to find the wanted.

On July 20, 2018 the person under persecution A. Petrosyan surrendered himself to the investigative body and charge was pressed against him according to the Points 1 and 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 34-131 of RA Criminal Code.

On the same day a motion was submitted to the court of First Instance of Yerevan to reconfirm detention as a pretrial measure against him.

The motion of the investigative body was sufficed by the court. At the same time the use of alternative pretrial measure against him - bail was considered permissible.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing, measures are taken to provide the objective, complete and comprehensive investigation of the case, to identify those involved in the incident.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
