Charge Pressed against 53 Year-Old Man for Threatening Former Wife to Murder, Breach of Inviolability of Dwelling. Criminal Case Sent to Court

Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on threat to murder and breach of inviolability of the dwelling was completed in Vagharshapat Investigative Division of Armavir Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

Pursuant to data obtained through investigation, 53 year-old resident of Yerevan and his 43 year-old wife often had arguments during their life together because of jealousy which became a reason for divorce. After divorce the wife rented a house in Armavir province and together with other members of the family lived there.

On the day of the incident – on July 2, 2020 at about 11:30 the man went to his wife’s house to clarify personal relations with her.

Seeing that the gate was closed he passed over it, entered the yard, hit the house door with a hand and demanded to open it. But the wife refused and said that she did not want to see her former husband and speak to him.

In respond to the woman’s refusal and against her will, for the purpose of entering the house illegally, the man broke the window glass hitting with a fist, entered, scolded and with an item like a knife threatened the woman to kill her if she did not live with him.

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against the former husband according to the Part 1 of the Article 137 (threat to murder, to inflict heavy damage to one’s health or to destroy property) and the Part 1 of the Article 147 (breach of inviolability of the dwelling) of RA Criminal Code. Signature not to leave was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.

Preliminary investigation was completed and the criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to court.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
