Charge Pressed against Former Husband for Causing Wife Physical and Mental Sufferance, Causing Her to Attempt to Commit Suicide
Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on willfully causing wife strong pain and mental sufferance, willful infliction of light damage and causing her to attempt to commit suicide by former husband was completed in the Investigative Division of Avan and Nor Nork administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee. Charge was pressed against the woman’s former husband.
Through comprehensive, complete and objective investigation conducted through the criminal case a number of circumstances of the case, the motive were found out.
Pursuant to factual data obtained during pretrial proceeding on May 14, 2017 at about 14:00 the man, born in 1981, went to his former wife’s apartment, blamed her for infidelity, argued with her out of jealousy, beat her then stabbed her for numerous times with a kitchen knife on her face, shoulders, left wrist, seat, abdomen and breast. Then cutting the electric cable he electrolyzed her and cut her hair with scissors causing her injuries in the form of scratches, hemorrhages, cut-pierced wounds, physical pain and mental sufferance.
Besides, on July 11, 2017 the man went to the wife’s apartment again, argued with her, hit the latter on her head with his fist for numerous times. In the morning he took her to a deserted beach of Sevan lake where he stabbed her on the arms and breast for numerous times causing cut wounds.
As a result, through the above-mentioned actions 37 year-old man caused his former wife to attempt to commit suicide. Particularly, bad treatment and systematic humiliation by former husband resulted in “situational depressive prolonged disorder” at woman. Being depressed and humiliated on July 13, 2017 at about 05:00 the woman attempted to commit suicide by burning the house. However, her former husband extinguished the house offering her to commit suicide in his absence at the same time demanding to write a note mentioning that nobody was to blame for her suicide after which he left. 39 year-old woman did not complete her intention as her brother reached on time and did not let her commit suicide.
On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against 37 year-old man according to the Part 1 of the Article 119, the Article 117 and the Part 1 of the Article 110 of RA Criminal Code. Signature not to leave was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.
Preliminary investigation was completed and the criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to court.
