In the framework of the criminal case investigated in the Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee actual data were obtained on the allegation that Mayor of Masis Davit Hambardzumyan was involved in the incident that took place in the busy section of the crossroad of Hayanist-Hovtashat villages on April 22, 2018 at about 16:00-17:00.

It was earlier informed that on April 22, 2018 a call was received from Masis medical center informing that the resident of Ejmiatsin, born in 1958, with a firearm injury on the right leg was taken to medical center.

In the result of taken measures it was found out that 60 year-old resident had sustained firearm injury at the incident that took place at the crossroad of Hayanist-Hovtashat villages of Ararat region where a number of people were protesting.

On April 25 a criminal case was initiated in the RA IC Ararat Regional Investigative Department according to the Part 4 of the Article 258 of RA Criminal Code preliminary investigation of which went on in the RA IC Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of General Military Investigative Department. An investigatory plan was worked out and necessary investigatory measures of great volume were taken to find the frame of those involved in the argument, to personalize the actions of each of them, several people were questioned.

Pursuant to preliminary investigation data on April 22 a number of residents of Ararat region marched to Yerevan to take part in the protest in the Republic of Armenia. In order to ban them to go to Yerevan at about 16:00-17:00  a number of people in cars without plate numbers blocked the road to Yerevan at the crossroad of Hayanist-Hovtashat villages of Ararat region, used violence against those involved in march, as well as used a firearm. 4 people were found the injured party.

Through preliminary investigation actual data were obtained on the allegation that the Mayor of Masis Davit Hambardzumyan was involved in the incident. On June 23 charge was pressed against him according to the Part 4 of the Article 258 of RA Criminal Code.

It was earlier informed that within the criminal case the person having used a firearm at the incident was identified; he is a resident of Masis. On May 17 a decision was made to involve him as a defendant according to the Part 1 of the Article 235 and the Part 4 of the Article 258 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure and search was declared against him.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
