Charge pressed for concealing particularly grave crime committed in Shamiram village
Active investigatory actions are ongoing in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee to find all circumstances of murder committed in a way dangerous for the life of many people in the village of Shamiram. On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed for concealing particularly grave crime.
Through the criminal case sufficient actual data were obtained on the allegation that after the particularly grave crime had been committed in the funeral parlor located near the cemetery of the village of Shamiram, the person having committed the alleged crime was taken away by his uncle.
Thus, on August 1, 2017 the person having committed the alleged crime –pursuant to initial data – Telman Qalashyan, born in 1967, entered the funeral parlor located near the cemetery of the village of Shamiram of Aragatsotn region where at that moment Yezidi national ritual called «Kher» took place, scolded then fired shots with a firearm towards the numerous people who were at the parlor. As a result, 4 people died of bodily injuries, 7 – were taken to medical center.
Immediately after the incident T. Qalashyan escaped and one of those present at the parlor tried to prevent his escape pursuing him in his own car. At the beginning of the village of Shamiram he reached and hit the car driven by Qalashyan. As a result, the mentioned car went out of the roadway, entered the field and stopped.
Through investigation it was found that the person having committed the alleged crime fired shots with a firearm towards the person pursuing him. However, the latter maneuvered and avoided the shots. Pursuant to the evidence obtained through the criminal case T. Qalashyan’s uncle, who was also present at the mentioned ceremony and had witnessed the committed crime, took him away from the mentioned place in his car.
Charge was pressed against the uncle – 67 year-old man according to the Part 1 of the Article 334 of RA Criminal Code for concealing the particularly grave crime. The investigator submitted a motion to court to choose detention as a pretrial measure against him.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing. The relevant subdivisions of the police were tasked to activate the operative-searching measures to find the wanted Telman Qalashyan and bring him to the investigative body.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
