In the result of investigatory and other procedural actions of great volume conducted in the framework of the criminal case investigated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee a number of circumstances, the motive of murder of two and more persons committed in a way dangerous for the life of many people in the village of Shamiram of Aragatsotn region were found; one person is under search, another is arrested.

Through preliminary investigation actual data were obtained on the incident which caused 4 persons’ death, the person having committed the alleged crime was identified; he is Telman Qalashyan, born in 1967. Particularly, on August 1, 2017 at about 09:30, the resident of Aragatsotn region T. Qalashyan had a telephone conversation on monetary issues with his relative demanding the money he had lent to the latter’s relatives. The conversation turned into an argument. Then T. Qalashyan, learning that his relative and the latter’s relatives and friends were in the funeral parlor located near the cemetery of the village of Shamiram, arrived in the mentioned place in the car of “VAZ 21214” make driven by him. Pursuant to the data obtained through investigation T. Qalashyan entered the funeral parlor, scolded then fired shots towards numerous people with a firearm. As a result, 4 persons died, 7 – sustained different bodily injuries.  

After completing his criminal intent T. Qalashyan escaped in his car after which one of those present at the funeral parlor pursued him in his own car to prevent T. Qalashyan’s escape and to catch him. Through investigation it was found that at the beginning of the village the witness reached and hit the car “VAZ 21214” driven by T. Qalashyan with the front part of the car driven by him. As a result, T. Qalashyan’s car came out of the roadway, went into the field near the road and stopped.

Pursuant to data obtained through investigation T. Qalashyan got out of the car with the firearm in his hand and fired shots towards the man pursuing him. However, the man maneuvered and avoided the shots. Then T. Qalashyan’s uncle drove to the latter in another car and they escaped together.  

On the base of the obtained evidence the investigator made a decision to involve T. Qalashyan as a defendant according to the Parts 1 and 6 of the Point 2 of the Article 104, the Part 1 of the Article 235 and the Part 1 of the Article 34-104 of RA Criminal Code, search was declared against him. His uncle was arrested on suspicion of concealing the crime.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
