In the result of investigatory and operative-intelligence measures of great volume conducted in the Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee illegal turnover of narcotic drugs in particularly large amount was revealed; narcotic drug of «Methamphetamine» type in large amount was found and confiscated, 5 people were arrested.

On February 16, 2018 the criminal case initiated in the Police according to the Point 2 of the Part 2 of the Article 268 of RA Criminal Code on illegal turnover of narcotic drugs without the purpose of sale by two RA citizens was received in the proceeding of the Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee. An investigatory group was formed, an investigatory plan was worked out and investigatory actions of great volume were conducted to find the source of drug procurement, to identify those selling them.

As a result, actual data were obtained on the allegation that the narcotic drugs had been introduced to Armenia from abroad, the mechanism was found, some people involved in smuggling the narcotic drugs to Armenia, its selling were identified; they are citizens of the RA and IRI.

In the framework of the criminal case searches were conducted in apartments of a number of people, in one of the night clubs operating in Kentron administrative district, in the order defined by law. As a result, narcotic drugs of different types in particularly large amount, including psychotropic substances, «Marijuana», as well as more than about 381 grams of «Methamphetamine» one gram of which is sold within 100.000 AMD in Armenia's «black market», were found and confiscated. 5 people were arrested, two of them are IRI citizens, three of them – RA citizens.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing, necessary urgent investigatory and other procedural measures are taken to identify other people possibly involved in illegal turnover of narcotic drugs, to personalize the actions of each of them.

Note; according to the appendix 1 of the RA Criminal Code more than 1.5 grams of «Methamphetamine» is drug in particularly large amount.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
