In the result of procedural, evidentiary actions conducted, as well as operative-intelligence measures taken within the framework of 2 different criminal proceedings initiated in the Investigative Division of Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee cases of illegal turnover of narcotic drugs in apparent large amount were disclosed.

Particularly, within the framework of one of the mentioned proceedings on February 9, 2023 at 18:40 two 23 year-old residents of Masis town were arrested on the base of reasonable suspicion of illegal keeping, using and selling of narcotic drugs and were taken to the police station from 11 Hydroelectric power plant., Qanaqer, Yerevan. During the arrest the latters tried to flee during which they threw numerous packages packed with a yellowish-greenish tape to the ground, however the attempt of their escape was prevented.

Through inspection of the road section adjacent to the mentioned address 42 packages were found. Forensic material expertise was commissioned pursuant to the conclusion of which 5.71grams of mass  in 6 packages of 42 ones with total weight of 126.01 grams found through inspection of the scene is narcotic drug of “Marijuana” type. The conclusion of the expertise of the content of the other packages has not been received yet.

It was found out that 23 year-old young men, with prior agreement, with the intent to realize, on the mentioned day illegally procured the narcotic drug from an unknown user of “Telegram” application in the field of Jrvezh district and kept it.

Charge was pressed against 23 year-old young men by the investigator conducting investigation according to the Points 1 and 2 of the Part 2 of the Article 393 of RA Criminal Code.

On February 11, 2022 motions were submitted to court to use detention as a pretrial measure against them. The motions were sufficed partially; home detention and mortgage in the amount of 1.000.000 AMD was used as an optional pretrial measure against the accused.

Through investigation conducted within the other criminal proceeding it was found out that in the result of implementation of operational information on February 11, 2023 25 year-old young man was arrested for illegal keeping and realizing of narcotic drugs in Nairi Zaryan Street of Yerevan. Through the latter’s personal search and search conducted in his car 32 packages full of yellowish-greenish mass were found the total weight of which together with the packages was about 33.5 grams, in his pocket a medical dropper with gray marks on the walls was found.

Pursuant to the initial conclusion of the expertise 14 of the packages with total weight of 14.22 grams is narcotic drugs of “Marijuana” type, expertise on the other packages is ongoing.

Charge was pressed against 25 year-old resident of Yerevan according to the Points 2 and 3 of the Part 2 of the Article 393 of RA Criminal Code for illegal procurement and keeping of narcotic drugs in large amount for the purpose of realizing.

Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against the latter.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
