Through comprehensive investigation conducted in Vayots Dzor Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee a number of circumstances of engagement in illegal turnover of narcotic drugs smuggled to the RA from IRI by two brothers, residents of Armavir region and a minor resident of Ararat region were found out.

In the result of necessary investigative and other procedural actions conducted within the framework of the criminal proceeding initiated according to the Point 1 of the Part 2 of the Article 393 of RA Criminal Code it was found out that the brothers, reaching prior agreement on illegal turnover of narcotic drugs with the purpose of sale with their friend, 17 year-old young man, on February 21, 2024 arrived at the area of Areni settlement of Vayots Dzor region in the car of «OPEL VECTRA 1.8» make driven by one of the brothers. Using the appropriate location app with the minor, they searched and found the specific coordinates of the location of the packaged drug provided in advance by the person, still to be identified by investigation. Finding it, 17 year-old young man took the package with crystalline mass similar to drug in particularly large amount – 500 grams, took it to the car, and one of the brothers fixed it under the hood of the car engine. Then in the same car the young men left for Yerevan. However, on the way, on the same day at 13:00, when the police officers, cooperating with the employees of the RA National Security Service and the Police of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, were implementing operational information, they were found at the area of Areni settlement of Yerevan-Meghri interstate highway, were arrested and taken to Yeghegnadzor Police station. The mentioned car was moved to the special protected area of the police station. Through the search conducted during preliminary investigation the above-mentioned package was found and taken.

Pursuant to the result of forensic material expertise commissioned within the criminal proceeding 500 g. crystalline mass in the package was narcotic drug of «Methamphetamine» type.

On the base of the obtained sufficient facts charge was pressed against the mentioned three persons according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 393 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was used as a pretrial measure against the brothers, mortgage, handing over to educational supervision and absence ban were used as optional combined pretrial measure against 17 year-old minor.  

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are taken to find the source of procurement of drugs, as well as others possibly involved in illegal turnover of narcotic drugs and subject them to criminal liability.
