In the result of car accident on Yerevan-Meghri road 2 persons died; a motion on driver’s detainment submitted to court

A criminal case was initiated in Vayots Dzor Regional Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee on breach of traffic rules and operation of means of transportation which caused 2 persons’ death.
 

On May 9, 2015 at about 17:30 “Volkswagen Golf” driven by the resident of Vayots Dzor region A. Petrosyan went on the opposite side of the road on the 134.5th km of Yerevan-Meghri road and crashed into “VAZ 2121” driven by the resident of Vayq K. Soghomonyan.
 

As a result, the passenger of “VAZ 2121” L. Nikoghosyan and the passenger of “Volkswagen Golf” K. Azoyan died in hospital. The driver and the other passenger of “Volkswagen Golf” D. Gevorgyan and the driver of “VAZ 2121” K.Soghomonyan sustained bodily injuries of several degrees.
 

On the same day a criminal case was initiated in Vayots Dzor Regional Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 3 of the Article 242 of RA Criminal Code.
 

During preliminary investigation of the criminal case inspections of the site and transport means have been conducted, forensic examinations have been appointed.
 

On May 10 the driver of “Volkswagen Golf” A. Petrosyan was arrested on suspicion of breaching traffic rules and operation of means of transportation which caused 2 persons’ death. On the same day blood sample was taken from the latter to check his soberness, forensic biological examination was appointed, as well.
 

On the base of the evidence obtained through preliminary investigation on May 13 A. Petrosyan was charged according to the Part 3 of the Article 242 of RA Criminal Code. A motion on using detainment as a pretrial measure against him was submitted to court.
 

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are taken to provide the comprehensive and complete examination of circumstances of the case.
 

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
