Investigation conducted to Find out Circumstances of Disrupting Normal Operation of Yerevan Metro Caused by Protest in “Gortsaranayin Station”

On December 11, 2020 from about 09:10 the normal operation of the metro was disrupted for about 40 minutes as a group of people stood at the doors of trains parked on both sides of the platform not allowing the doors to close and trains to operate. As a result, the activity of the metro completely stopped and numerous passengers could not use the metro service.

On the same day a criminal case was initiated in Shengavit Police Division according to the Part 1 of the Article 322 (arrogation) of RA Criminal Code preliminary investigation of which is conducted in the Investigative Division of Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

A number of investigatory and other procedural actions were conducted, the video of the protest carried out in the station of the metro disseminated by media was inspected.

In the result of taken measures three of those having carried out protest in “Gortsaranayin Station” of metro were identified; they are residents of Yerevan, born in 1972, 1998 and 1979. Signature not to leave was used as a pretrial measure against them.

Measures are taken to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of the case.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
