In the result of measures taken in the Investigative Division of Malatia-Sebastia administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee the case of murder attempt committed by the husband against the former wife was disclosed.

On June 17, 2022 at 09:00 a call was received informing that 49 year-old resident of Yerevan with cut-pierced wound was taken to “Astghik” medical center.

A criminal case was initiated on murder attempt.

In the result of investigative and other procedural actions conducted during preliminary investigation a number of circumstances significant for the criminal case, among them the scene were found out, the person having committed the alleged crime was identified. He is the former husband of the injured woman – 50 year-old resident of Ararat.

Through investigation it was found out that on the day of the accident – on June 17 at about 08:15 at the bus stop located in Babajanyan Street of Yerevan, with the intent of deprivation of life the latter approached his former wife, argued about domestic matters during which threatening to murder stabbed her with a knife he had taken beforehand causing cut-pierced bodily injuries. However, under unforeseen circumstances he could not complete the crime due to the intervention of the wife’s acquaintance and fled leaving the instrument of the crime – the knife at the scene.

During preliminary investigation inspection of the scene was conducted during which the knife, blood-like traces were found, samples were taken, forensic medical examinations were commissioned.

In the result of measures taken jointly together with the employees of the RA Police the person having committed the alleged crime was found, arrested on suspicion of committing murder attempt against former wife and questioned. Charge was pressed against the latter according to the Part 1 of the Article 34-104 of RA Criminal Code. A motion was submitted to court to use detention as a pretrial measure against him. It was sufficed.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are taken to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of the case.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
