In the result of investigatory and other procedural actions conducted in Abovyan Investigative Division of Kotayk Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee circumstances of murder of the guard of the church located in Abovyan town were found out.

Pursuant to data obtained through investigation on May 24, 2020 at about 14:00 68 year-old resident of Abovyan went to the church yard located at the area adjoining to the cemetery of “Saralanj” district to wash. There a row on personal matters erupted between him and the church guard during which 68 year-old man hit the guard on the head with a bottle and the latter fell down. 68 year-old man left but on the same day at about 19:00 he returned to the church yard, argued with the guard, hit him with hands and feet as well as with a basalt tile on different parts of his body, including the head.  Then continuing his criminal intention he pressed the guard’s neck with hands and caused mechanical suffocation illegally depriving the church guard of life.

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against 68 year-old man according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 (murder) of RA Criminal Code. Detention was used as a pretrial measure against him.

Preliminary investigation was completed and the criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to court.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
