Resident of Norashen Arrested on Suspicion of Committing Murder Attempt against Fellow-Villager (photos)

On 29 August, 2021 at 12:15 a call was received from “Artashat” medical center informing that 61 year-old man with burns of 1-3 grade on the body (30-40 percent), lacerated wound on the region of the left elbow had turned to them and told that he had fallen into the tonir (big jar dug in the earth in which fire is made, used for baking bread) in the house.

In the result of measures taken during preparation of materials the real circumstances of receiving the mentioned injuries by the man, as well as the scene were found out.

Pursuant to initial data, on the mentioned day at about 11:30 on the way from Norashen village to Kaxtsrashen village of Ararat region an argument on domestic matters took place between 61 year-old resident of Norashen and his fellow-villager during which the latter stabbed 61 year-old man on the left hand then poured petrol on him and burnt. However, he could not complete the crime as 61 year-old man managed to leave the scene after which he was taken to medical center.

A criminal case was initiated in Artashat Police Division according to the Part 1 of the Article 34-104 of RA Criminal Code which was sent to Ararat Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee for conduction of preliminary investigation and was received for production.

During preliminary investigation necessary investigative and other procedural actions were conducted – inspection of the scene, forensic examinations were commissioned.

On the same day – some hours after the incident 61 year-old man’s fellow-villager turned himself to the law enforcement body and gave self –incriminating testimony.

The latter was arrested on suspicion of committing murder attempt.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are taken to find out all circumstances, to provide the objective and comprehensive investigation of the case.
