Search Declared within Criminal Case on Hooliganism in Hayanist Village

In the result of necessary investigatory and other procedural actions conducted in Ararat Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee a number of circumstances of the incident that took place in the village of Hayanist on April 22 were found out, the person having committed the alleged crime was identified. Search was declared against him.

On April 22, 2018 a call was received from Masis medical center informing that the resident of Ejmiatsin, born in 1958, with a firearm injury on the right leg was taken to medical center.

In the result of measures taken it was found out that the 60 year-old man had sustained the firearm injury during the quarrel that took place at the crossroad of Hayanist-Hovtashat villages of Ararat region where a number of residents took part in the protest, blocked the road.

On April 25 a criminal case was initiated in the RA IC Ararat Regional Investigative Department according to the Part 4 of the Article 258 of RA Criminal Code, an investigatory plan was worked out and necessary investigatory actions of great volume were conducted to find those involved in the quarrel, to personalize the actions of each of them, several people were questioned.

In the result of investigatory and other procedural actions actual data were obtained on the person who had used a firearm; he is a resident of Masis.

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence on March 17, 2018 a decision was made to involve the resident of Masis town – S. Karapetyan as a defendant according to the Part 1 of the Article 235 and the Part 4 of the Article 258 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against him and search was declared.

The police were tasked to take measures to find and bring him to the investigative body.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
