Two Police Officers Sustained Firearm Bodily Injuries as a Result of Shots Fired by Enemy

On July 13, 2020 at about 09:20 from Azerbaijani combat bases adjacent to the settlement Aygepar of Berd community of Tavush province at Armenian-Azerbajanian border, out of motives of national, race or religious hate or fanatism for the purpose of depriving two or more people from life and willful destruction of property shots were fired towards the checkpoint of General Department of State Protection of the RA Police located at “Tavush” reservoir. As a result, the projectile explosion caused the spoilage of the mentioned checkpoint and two police officers of Tavush Division of General Department of State Protection of the RA Police carrying out state service at the checkpoint sustained firearm bodily injuries.

On the same day a criminal case was initiated in Berd Investigative Division of Tavush Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Points 1, 13 of the Part 2 of the Article 34-104 (murder attempt) and the Points 1 and 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 185 of RA Criminal Code.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
