Violence in Gyumri; 42 Year-Old Woman Died, her 12 Year-Old Daughter Sustained Heavy Bodily Injury

On March 5, 2020 at 14:50 then at 15:15 calls were received in Mush Police Division from “Gyumri Ambulance Station” CJSC informing that 42 year-old resident of one of the houses of Proshyan Street of Gyumri town died in the same house and her 12 year-old daughter with a diagnosis of “traumatic shock, closed-cranial injury” was taken to medical center.

The law enforcement officers who had left for the scene on the base of the call found the body of 42 year-old resident of the house with traces of violence, as well as the latter’s acquaintance – 28 year-old resident of Gyumri.

The latter was apprehended on suspicion of committing the alleged crime and confessed that he had beaten 42 year-old woman and her minor daughter.

On the same day he was arrested on suspicion of committing the crime.

On March 5, 2020 a criminal case was initiated in Shirak Regional Investigative Department according to the Points 1 and 14 of the Part 2 of the Article 112 (Infliction of willful heavy damage to health in relation to two or more persons which caused the death of the aggrieved by negligence) of RA Criminal Code.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Investigatory and other procedural actions are conducted to find out all circumstances of the case.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
