A criminal case was initiated in Kotayq Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on murder of a newly born baby by the mother.

On May 15, 2017 a body of a baby boy wrapped in a plastic bag was found in a paper box on the grass in the green area located at 10, Shahumyan Street, Hrazdan town.  

Investigation immediately started in Kotayq Regional Investigative Department to find the circumstances of the child’s death, forensic medical examination was commissioned.

Police subdivisions were instructed to take necessary measures to identify the baby’s mother as well as the person (persons) who had taken the baby’s body to the mentioned area.

Through investigation newly born baby’s mother was identified; she is a resident of Hrazdan town, a mother of two minor children. Pursuant to actual data, the baby was born on May 11 at home after which the mother left the baby in the bathroom without feeding and taking care of him.

A criminal case was initiated in Kotayq Regional Investigative Department according to the Article 106 of RA Criminal Code. The baby’s mother was interrogated as a suspect.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing, necessary investigatory actions are conducted to verify the initial data obtained, as well as circumstances told by the baby’s mother.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
