Another Case of Illegal Turnover of Narcotic Drugs in Particularly Large Amount Disclosed; One Person Detained (photos)

Through investigation of the criminal proceeding initiated in the Investigative Division of Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 1 of the Article 393 and the Part 1 of the Article 396 of RA Criminal Code a number of circumstances of illegal procurement and keeping of narcotic drugs committed by a resident of Armavir were found out.

Particularly, on February 17, 2023 at about 14:10 the police patrols performing service duties at the area called Korea Gorge noticed that the driver of the car of “Ford” make, seeing them, threw the bag in his hand. Doubting that the mass in the bag might be narcotic drugs, the mentioned person was immediately taken to Arabkir Police division on the base of reasonable suspicion of illegal keeping and using of narcotic drugs.

In the result of necessary measures it was found out that the latter was a resident of Vagharshapat town, born in 1983. Threw the latter’s personal search yellowish-greenish mass with a specific smell with total weight of 1.32 and 5.42 grams was found.

In the result of investigative actions conducted within the criminal proceeding initiated on the fact data were obtained that the mass found threw the man’s personal search, pursuant to initial data, was narcotic drugs of “Marijuana” type, which, according to him, he had procured through a website.

In the result of necessary measures the bag thrown by the man was found with yellowish-greenish mass in it. Forensic chemical expertise was commissioned.

Through the expertise it was grounded that the mass with initial weight of 541.97 grams was narcotic drugs of “Marijuana” type.

A motion on initiating a public criminal prosecution was submitted to the prosecutor which was sufficed. Charge was pressed against the resident of Vagharshapat according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 393 of RA Criminal Code for illegal procurement and keeping of narcotic drugs in particularly large amount from an unidentified user for the purpose of selling.

A motion was submitted to court to use detention as a pretrial measure against him which was sufficed.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary investigative and procedural actions are conducted to find out the source of procurement of narcotic drugs, the chain of illegal turnover of narcotic drugs. 

Assignments were given to the relevant subdivision of the Police of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs.
