Banditry in Artik Disclosed; One Person Arrested
In the result of necessary investigatory actions conducted in the Investigative Division of Artik and Ani of Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee circumstances of banditry committed in Artik town of Shirak province were found out, one person was arrested.
Pursuant to initial data on February 27, 2019 at about 09:25 the resident of Shirak province, born in 1971, masked and armed, entered the jeweler’s shop operating in Artik town and threatening with a knife demanded golden jewels.
A criminal case was initiated in RA IC Investigative Division of Artik and Ani of Shirak Regional Investigative Department according to the Part 1 of the Article 175 of RA Criminal Code.
Inspection of the scene was conducted, videos captured by the cameras of the jeweler’s shop as well as of the shops nearby were confiscated and examined, forensic medical examination was commissioned. The jeweler’s shop owner – a resident of Artik town, born in 1960, was found the injured party and questioned.
In the result of necessary measures taken through investigation it was found out that the 47 year-old resident of Shirak province, with the purpose of swindling golden jewels, masked and armed with a knife, entered the jeweler’s shop operating in Artik town and threatening with a knife demanded golden jewels. The son of the injured party took a gas pistol and pointed it towards the 47 year-old man after which the latter tried to flee. However, he was neutralized and apprehended by the police officers performing duties at the area nearby the jeweler’s shop.
47 year-old resident of Shirak province was arrested on suspicion of committing the above-mentioned crime.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
