Charge Pressed against Spouses for Smuggling, Illegal Turnover of Narcotic Drugs

Through comprehensive investigation conducted in the Division of Investigation of Grave Crimes of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee circumstances of smuggling, illegal turnover of narcotic drugs were found out. On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against spouses.

Pursuant to data obtained through investigation the resident of Yerevan, born in 1966, having a right to residence in the Kingdom of the Netherlands for about 10 years legally received pills of narcotic drugs of «Buprenorphine» type from a doctor because of illness. With the purpose of illegal selling in the Republic of Armenia the latter smuggled drug pills in large amount to Armenia.

Reaching prior agreement with her husband, born in 1985, on selling the narcotic drug of «Buprenorphine» type in large amount smuggled in Armenia, from February 21, to June 1 2017 on different days 53 year-old woman gave her husband pills of the mentioned narcotic drug which were sold by the latter.

Besides, through investigation data were obtained that the woman illegally obtained and kept a folding hunting knife of factory production which is considered a cold weapon.

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against the wife according to the Points 1 and 2 of the Part 2 of the Article 266, the Point 1 of the Part 3 of the Article 267.1 and the Part 4 of the Article 235 of RA Criminal Code. Mortgage was used as an optional pretrial measure against her. Charge was pressed against husband according to the Points 1 and 2 of the Part 2 of the Article 266 of RA Criminal Code. Signature not to leave was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.

Preliminary investigation was completed and the criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to prosecutor supervising the legality of preliminary investigation.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
