In the framework of the criminal case investigated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee on mass disorders that took place on the evening of April 17 at the junction of Mashtots-Tumanyan Streets charge was pressed against 3 people. Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against them.

Pursuant to actual data obtained through the criminal case Z. Baghdatyan, R. Muradyan, born in 1986, and V. Barseghyan, born in 2000, took part in the protest and marches organized in Yerevan on April 13, 2018 by the RA MP, blocked several streets with other participants of protests of several days disrupting the normal course of traffic.

On the day of the incident – on April 17, 2018 after the march in several streets of Yerevan a meeting was organized in Republic Square and the people mentioned above participated in it. After the meeting in Republic Square the participants continued it in “France’s” Square of Yerevan. Some participants, including Z. Baghdatyan, R. Muradyan and V. Barseghyan, being indignant at RA police employees’ legal demand not to gather in “France’s” Square of Yerevan and not to disrupt the traffic, went to the junction of Mashtots-Tumanyan Streets at about 23:00 where they started mass disorder.

During mass disorders the participants, putting public security in danger, disrupted the normal course of traffic, destroyed and damaged the traffic lights, traffic signs, signboards with hands, feet, different items, created real danger for the life and health of passer-byes, hit three service cars of the Police with metal items.  

During the mentioned mass disorders participant Z. Baghdatyan hit the traffic light at the junction with a metal piece of a broken bench, tried to take it out with a group of people, then threw a stone and a metal piece of the broken bench towards the police car of «HYUNDAI» make with plate number of 437 II 02 which had arrived to provide public order and security breaking its glass, creating real danger for the life and health for police officers in the mentioned car. R. Muradyan hit the traffic light at the junction with a metal item damaging it then hit the billboard breaking it. V. Barseghyan tried to take out the traffic light at the junction together with some other people, damaged it and tried to block the road with a traffic sign.   

On the base of the evidence obtained through the criminal case charge was pressed against Z. Baghdatyan, R. Muradyan and V. Barseghyan according to the Part 2 of the Article 225 of RA Criminal Code and a motion was submitted to court to use detention as a pretrial measure against them.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing, measures are taken to find all those involved in disorders and give appropriate criminal legal assessment to their actions.

Pursuant to actual data obtained through the criminal case the people in the mentioned photos also had active participation in mass disorders on April 17.  

Those who know them or have any information about their identity or whereabouts are asked to tell General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee or nearest police division.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
