Criminal Case Initiated on Apparent Abuses Committed at Judicial Department

In the result of studies of the control of the legality of the management of public funds conducted at the Staff of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Armenia – Judicial Department based on the instructions of the Head of the RA State Control Service it was found out that from 2016 to 2018 by the orders of the Head of Judicial Department 9 employees had been allegedly sent to several provinces of Armenia on a business trip. Submitting documents provided by several business entities for compensation of business trip expenses they received money in particularly large amount - 41.934.000 AMD in total.

It was also found out that in a number of cases on the days of the business trips the relevant employees had been at work. Besides, for compensation of the expenses for hotel services they submitted documents provided by business entities which, pursuant to data of State Revenue Service, did not provide relevant services or did not have appropriate number of hotel rooms.

Considering that in the result of the mentioned studies there were sufficient bases to initiate a criminal case, data on forgery of official documents, swindling in particularly large amount by using forged documents abusing official position by the employees of Judicial Department, causing significant damage to state interests by negligence caused by abusing official authority against service interests by competent officials of Judicial Department, as well as official forgery were comprised, a criminal case was initiated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Point 1 of the Part 3 of the Article 178, the Part 1 of the Article 325, the Part 1 of the Article 314 and the Part 2 of the Article 308 of RA Criminal Code.

Preliminary investigation is conducted.   

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
